Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has announced his breakup with Ferrari! The reason for the German quitting the Maranello is merely cited as ‘’there was no longer a common desire to stay together.”

Rumours circulating is that team-mate Charles Le Clerc is seen as the new golden child and future for Ferrari. This will not go down well for Vettel, who many regard as one of the best drivers to ever don the Ferrari jumpsuit. Others are saying that a new contract was just never offered to the German, and that it sealed the deal for both parties. Whatever the real reason, one can be sure that it is the right move for Vettel – someone who clearly has much more to give Formula 1.

Hamilton to Ferrari?

The big question on everyone’s lips now is who replaces Vettel come the end of the season? The sensationalists were quick to target Mercedes-Benz’ hero Lewis Hamilton. The current champion was quick to play down the rumours saying “I’m with my dream team.” More realistically, Hamilton’s teammate Valterri Bottas and Spaniard Carlos Sainz are among the favourites to replace Vettel at the Italian pit-stop garage next season.

Where to now for Vettel?

It is clear that the German has more than enough hunger to continue in Formula 1. In a recent statement, Vettel said that “the lockdown has given me lots to think about” …join the club Vettel…, so perhaps we will see a new Vettel come the resumption of the season or indeed the start of next with his potential new team. To the question at hand; and its touted that McLaren or Renault are his preferred destinations!
